Claire has had a passion for the fashion industry from her very earliest years. Highly creative from the very outset, it was little surprise when she first started working for leading fashion designer Louise Kennedy. She mixed on-the-ground experience in Louise Kennedy’s Dublin studio with art studies and found an exceptional synergy between the two, giving her an appreciation of both the theoretical and the practical aspects of fashion. As a co-founder of Elizabeth & Claire, she carries the primary design responsibility for the label, leading a highly talented design team who continue to excel in their mastery of colour, fabric, proportion and silhouette. And mindful that the international fashion industry is, first and foremost, a business, Claire ensured that she had a very sound business grounding before establishing her own label. An honours degree in business studies, plus successful contracts working with Google and the Revenue Commissioners, all provided an excellent background for running her own company. While the business world was always going to lose out to the world of fashion, Claire is deeply appreciative of the solid business foundation her time in the commercial world provided. Claire is also an accomplished illustrator, and her art background gives her a highly distinctive take on what constitutes the ideal shape and form. It is just one of the many and diverse interests which provide inspiration for the distinctive Elizabeth & Claire look.
